Aidan Burke

The Keeper – Guardian of the Tradition

For Aidan Burke, Irish music has never simply been something to perform—it has always been part of who he is.

Born and raised within London’s vibrant Irish community, Aidan grew up surrounded by the sounds and traditions of Ireland. With family roots in both Sligo and Tipperary, music was woven into the fabric of everyday life, shaping a lifelong passion that would eventually lead him to become one of the most respected traditional musicians of his generation.

A world-class fiddle player, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Aidan has built an extraordinary career at the very highest level of Irish traditional music. His exceptional talent has earned him the remarkable honour of becoming a twenty-time All Britain and All Ireland Champion across his principal instruments—an achievement that reflects both his natural ability and unwavering dedication to his craft.

Throughout his career, Aidan has performed across the world with internationally acclaimed groups including Comas, Foskett and Shillelagh Law, captivating audiences with performances that combine technical brilliance, creativity and deep respect for tradition. Equally comfortable performing in a concert hall, theatre or late-night session, he possesses the rare ability to make every performance feel both masterful and deeply personal.

In recent years, audiences across the UK, Australia and Canada have come to know Aidan through his work with Seven Drunken Nights, where his stunning musicianship provides many of the production’s most memorable moments.

Above all, Aidan remains a passionate advocate for Irish music and culture. Whether playing a haunting air, driving a reel at breakneck speed or composing new music inspired by old traditions, he continues to honour the rich heritage that first inspired him as a young London-Irish musician.

“Wherever Irish music is celebrated, Aidan Burke continues to be one of its finest and most passionate ambassadors.”
